Disused Co Tyrone hotel up for lease at £25,000 per year

A disused hotel in Co Tyrone has been put up for lease at a price of £25,000 per year.

The Bank House Hotel in Dungannon closed its doors in 2012 opening in 2007 following an extensive renovation, and has laid dormant since then.

The former bank premises and listed building was put up for sale in 2019, and its current owners are now seeking to lease it out at £25,000 per year, plus rates.

However, the 17 bedrooms which formed part of the hotel’s upper floors are not included in the lease. The accommodation in its upstairs is being rented to a local business, which it is using to provide accommodation for some of its employees.

Despite early interest from some local hospitality owners, the estate agent managing the lease says there has been no deal agreed yet for someone to take it over.

“We are letting the ground floor area just as space, whether that be a restaurant, a gym or offices or whatever.

“There’s no licence attached to it so it’s just really to let as space. It would be nice to see a restaurant or something in it,” Conor Mallon from Best Property Services told MyTyrone.

“We have had interest in it from restaurateurs but there has been no deal agreed yet and it’s still available.

“It’s been on for about four weeks, it’s a big space so it would be a big undertaking for somebody because of the size of it.

“We have a couple of people looking at it and are optimistic that somebody will have a go at it.

“It would be nice to see a bit of commercial activity in that corner again, definitely.”

The local estate agent added it was ‘difficult to see’ it being used as a hotel again.

A property description for the listing says: “Extensive fitted hospitality space available, in the former Bank House Hotel.

“The property is located a minutes walk from Dungannon Town Square and is close to all local amenities. Extensive car parking is available nearby.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to rent a quality premises , which offers spacious well presented floorspace, which may suit many uses.”
