Disney subscriptions is going to cost more in the United States. As per a report of Bloomberg, Disney is set to increase prices for several Disney+ and Hulu subscription plans, including its flagship ad-free Disney+ plan.
Disney is not alone though. All major streaming platforms have raised their subscription plans and introduced advertising-supported offers in a bid to boost revenue and offset rising content expenses and improve the profitability of their streaming businesses.
Disney+ subscription price hike
The monthly price of the ad-free Disney+ plan will increase by $2.50, or about 13%, to $21.49, according to Bloomberg. Disney is expected to begin notifying customers about the new prices as early as Wednesday.
The price of Hulu without ads will also increase by $2.50 per month.
Meanwhile, the monthly price of the ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle will rise by $2 to $21.99, Bloomberg reported.
Disney will also increase the prices of its standalone ad-supported plans. The monthly cost of Disney+ with ads and Hulu with ads will each rise by 50 cents to $12.49.
However, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will remain unchanged at $12.99 per month.
The latest price increase comes as Disney continues to strengthen its focus on streaming and technology.
Last week, Disney named Karandeep Anand as its first chief technology officer and elevated Adam Smith to lead its streaming business. The moves come as the company places greater emphasis on Disney+, Hulu and technology across its entertainment operations.
Streaming subscription prices continue to rise
Disney's latest increase follows a broader trend among major streaming companies, which have been raising prices as they seek to make their streaming businesses more profitable.
Apple earlier increased the price of its Apple TV streaming service and its Apple One subscription bundle in the US, ahead of its hardware launch event on September 9.
Apple TV now costs $14.99 per month or $119 per year, up from $12.99 per month and $99 annually. The individual Apple One plan has also increased to $21.95 per month from $19.95.
When Apple TV+ launched in 2019, its monthly subscription cost was $4.99.
Amazon and Netflix have also raised subscription prices.
Amazon's ad-free Prime Video tier received a $2 monthly increase from April 10, 2026, becoming Prime Video Ultra at $4.99 per month. The upgraded tier includes features such as five concurrent streams and 100 downloads.
Netflix has also increased prices across its subscription tiers, with prices rising by $2.50 in January and further changes reported for its ad-supported, standard and premium plans.
The latest Disney+ and Hulu increases underline how streaming services are increasingly turning to higher subscription prices and advertising-supported tiers as they seek to balance content spending with profitability.
