Derek Mackay, the disgraced former SNP Minister, has been asked to explain his role in the CalMac ferries fiasco.
Mackay, who resigned the Nicola Sturgeon’s Cabinet in 2020 after it emerged he bombarded a 16-year-old school boy with online messages, was Transport Minister when the contract for Ferguson Marine to build two ferries for CalMac was awarded.
With both ferries languishing incomplete, overbudget and five years overdue, Ministers have been accused of trying to shift the blame onto Mackay who stepped down as an MSP in 2021.
