Aldi shoppers have been left “disappointed” after spotting that a fan favourite is missing from its upcoming plush toy collection.
The bargain retailer launched its 2022 Christmas advert earlier this month, with Kevin the Carrot returning for the seventh year. Ahead of the release, Aldi shared a short teaser trailer which played homage to the iconic 1998 Nike World Cup Advert.
The 50 second ad sees Kevin joined by his wife Katie and kids Baby, Chantenay and Jasper in an airport. The clip shows Kevin and his family in the airport departure lounge, preparing for a Christmas trip to Paris. Kevin screws up his newspaper then tosses it away, only for some familiar football characters to use it as a football for a kickabout.

Footballers such as ‘Ronaldi’, ‘Messy’, ‘MmmBap’, ‘Macaroony’, ‘Beth Swede’ and ‘Marrowdona’ are seen playing with Kevin. This Thursday, November 17, Aldi is releasing plush toys of a number of its Christmas advert characters.
However, Aldi shoppers have noticed that one of their favourites seems to be missing from the lineup - ‘Beth Swede’, who is named after England women’s national football team player Beth Mead.
While shoppers will be able to pick up a number of the footballer-inspired plush toys - MmmBap, Marrowdonna, Roy Bean, Ronaldi and Messy - Beth Swede is nowhere to be seen. Taking to Twitter, one Aldi shopper said: “So @AldiUK why isn’t Beth Swede @bmeado9 an option to get? I’m disappointed #AldiAmazingChristmas”.
Many others shared their thoughts on the missing character beneath the tweet. One person said: “My daughter desperately wants Beth Swede !!!!!!!! That’s the only one she wanted @AldiUK why is there no Beth Swede?”
A second wrote: “I WANT BETH SWEDE” and a third added: “@AldiUK literally asked my mum to keep an eye out for beth swede for me...the only one I want”. A fourth added: “Where is Beth Swede? She is the only one my girls wanted.”
A fifth said: “This is indeed disappointing tho! yoo @AldiUK please listen to people!” and a sixth wrote: “The people have spoken @AldiUK. We want Beth Sweade”. Another added: “Noooo beth swede is my favourite”.
Aldi’s range of plush toys goes on sale this Thursday, November 17. Most are available online and in-store, though some are being sold exclusively online. You can find the full details here .
