Disabled shoppers have the most problems at Sainsbury's, a review site's figures have revealed. Out of the big four supermarkets, the chain attracted the highest number of complaints.
Kent Live reported that delivery service Britsuperstore had compiled the ratings from Trustpilot reviews. Nearly 26 per cent of complaints from disabled customers on the site related to Sainsbury's.
Asda, Tesco and Morrisons received 19.15 per cent, 14.52 per cent and 9.77 per cent of complaints respectively. Next came Iceland and Aldi with 7.46 per cent and 7.2 per cent. The Co-op received the fewest complaints from disabled customers, at just 1.16 per cent.
More than 50 per cent of disabled customers complained about delivery services. In this league, Iceland was rated worst, with 72.41 per cent of customers having issues. Morrisons followed in second with 65.79 per cent, then came Waitrose (63.83) and Asda (63.76).
Overall, 18.64 per cent of complaints were about rude staff and 17.74 per cent were about customer communication. The research was released as the charity Scope said that 71 per cent of disabled people have changed their supermarket because of bad experiences.
A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: “We aim to be an inclusive retailer where people love to work and shop. We were the first supermarket to roll out sunflower lanyards, to enhance the shopping experience for customers with hidden disabilities, and to bring SignVideo to our customer service centres to support British Sign Language (BSL) users.
"For our groceries online service, customers can add delivery instructions for our drivers, including if they require any extra assistance such as bringing their shopping into their home. Customer feedback is very important to us and we continue to review how we can best support our customers."
