Disabled Edinburgh man promised £82k by cruel scammers in slick double con

An Edinburgh man fell victim to a cruel scam, where they claimed his investments had gone through the roof.

After investing $1,000 (£820) with a ‘firm’, they told him his money had skyrocketed to $100,000 (£82,000). When he tried to get his money, he fell victim to a second scam from another firm who said they could hunt down the initial scammers reports the Daily Record.

According to a Watchdog, more than £756,000 has been lost online to scams in the past six months alone. John, from Gorgie, Edinburgh, said: “I’ve been finding money tight of late and I feel a bit stupid but I got lured in by a really slick fake company and the promise of guaranteed profits.
