Director Apologizes To Letitia Wright For Distribution Controversy

Director apologizes to Letitia Wright for lack of communication.

Director Josh Weigel has issued an apology to executive producer Letitia Wright for failing to inform her about the decision to have Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire distribute their new film, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot. Weigel expressed regret for the lack of communication and acknowledged that the situation was mishandled.

The apology came after Wright distanced herself from The Daily Wire following their collaboration with Angel Studios to distribute the film. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Wright clarified that she was not involved in the decision-making process and emphasized that she does not align with The Daily Wire's political stance.

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, which was released on July 4, narrates the true story of Bishop W.C. Martin and Donna Martin and their efforts to facilitate the adoption of 77 children by 22 families from the local foster system.

Angel Studios initially acquired the film from Peacetree Productions and later partnered with The Daily Wire for distribution. The Weigels, in a joint statement, defended the decision to collaborate with The Daily Wire, citing a shared goal of addressing the foster crisis and supporting families of faith in the adoption process.

Despite facing criticism for the partnership, the creators of Sound of Hope reiterated their gratitude for The Daily Wire's support and emphasized the importance of advocating for children in need of adoption. They emphasized that the focus should be on the welfare of these children rather than political affiliations.
