The gig, set to start around 8pm, had already been rescheduled from October 2021 and, just as they were getting ready to see Dionne take the stage, fans were informed that the show had been called off, with Dionne blaming illness as she took to Twitter with an announcement for fans. The 81-year-old wrote: "I am so sorry that I won’t be able to perform for you tonight. I love being in Newcastle which makes it even more upsetting! But unfortunately, I’ve picked up a nasty bug that just won’t allow me to perform. Take care and I will see you very soon."
