Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has sent a message to Romelu Lukaku, amid reports over the striker’s future.
Lukaku became the club’s record signing when he returned to Stamford Bridge in 2021 but it has been far from the fairytale story that both parties envisioned. The striker caused early controversy with an interview he gave to Sky Italia and finished the campaign with 15 goals in all competitions.
Last season, he returned to Inter Milan on loan, clocking up 21 goal involvements in 37 games, and the Italian side are keen to bring him back to the San Siro on a permanent basis. New Blues boss Maurico Pochettino has admitted he plans to talk with Lukaku once he has returned for pre-season, but Drogba could also have a potential role to play.
In an Instagram post, Lukaku shared that he was spending time with friends and family, ahead of reporting back for training. However, in the comments, Lukau’s idol and former teammate Drogba urged him to get in touch: “Hey boy @romelulukaku please call me”.
It has been reported by The Athletic that Inter have submitted an opening bid of £25.6million, with no loan clause involved, which was rejected by Chelsea. It is said that the club will not consider offers under £38million, while Juventus and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal have also been listed as interested parties.

When asked about Lukaku’s future in his opening press conference, Pochettino said, “The situation, all the parts know what we think. I think in that case, he needs to come back the 12th, or 13th into the squad for the start of preseason
“Of course. Like with all of the players, the first thing they do when they arrive is to come to my office and see me. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player.”
