Didi Hamann does not hold back on Stephen Kenny criticism in explosive RTE punditry

Didi Hamann did not hold back when criticising Stephen Kenny after Ireland slumped to yet another loss.

Hamann was on RTE punditry duties for Ireland's 2-1 loss at the hands of Norway at the Aviva Stadium.

And Stephen Kenny's side put in a poor display yet again as they suffered another loss in a worrying performance before France come to town.

Hamann did not hold back in his criticism of Stephen Kenny, calling the first half the worst Ireland performance he's seen.

He said on RTE: "The first half is as poor as I've seen.

"As I said before, the competitive games they've won were all dead rubbers. The manager hasn't won one game in two years that he needed to win.

"When nothing is at stake the wins don't mean anything.

"Today was an opportunity for some of the players to remind the manager when the France game comes around that I'm here too but we talked about inconsistency before.

"Norway haven't qualified for the World Cup but they look like a team. There was purpose and something to the game.

"Ireland were huffing and puffing."

The former Liverpool ace continued his stinging criticism.

"We've talked about this for two years now, over the 90 minutes it simply wasn't enough.

"I've never heard him criticise his players. I'm not one for a manager to have a go but this is going on for two years now.

"At some stage you've got to say well we've got to change something because if you don't start calling players out when they haven't performed nothing's going to change.

"We had a discussion two years ago about transition that we build and bring players in. These players have all been around for years.

"If it's not working the way you're doing it you've got change something.

"I'm the last person for a manager to call out players but you've got to do something about it because the first half is as poor as I've seen and this has been two years now and the games they've lost.

"They didn't play Brazil, Argentina and Germany every month..

"The first half was pathetic."
