The Diamonds have withstood a spirited challenge from South Africa to maintain their unbeaten run at the Commonwealth Games, prevailing 57-47 in Glasgow.
The Diamonds, who top Pool A as they stalk a gold medal in ominous fashion, will look to make it five straight wins when they play winless Northern Ireland in their final group stage match.
The Proteas, who were undefeated heading into the game on Thursday morning, came the closest to pulling off an upset against the netball world No.1 outfit after trailing 14-13 at the first break.
Super Netball star Elmere van der Berg led the charge for South Africa, with the newly-minted Adelaide Thunderbirds premiership shooter rarely missing to keep the margin to just 10 goals at three-quarter time.
But the Proteas couldn't hit top gear and the Diamonds soared to another victory at the Hydro.
Australia's usual stars were on song, with Sophie Garbin (33 goals/34 attempts) their most potent threat.
Van der Berg fought off close attention from Thunderbirds teammate Matilda Garrett and Diamonds defender Jo Weston to fire off 39 goals from 44 attempts.
"It was nice to see Elmere, but on the court, as soon as you step over the line, we're not friends," Garrett told AAP.
"I play with El, I get to play against her every single week in training, which is super helpful.
"But all the girls play against her in Super Netball, so everything I said, they already knew.
"They pushed us right to the end. We knew that they would come out with physicality."
South Africa, world No.5, also enjoyed ample crowd support in Glasgow and were powered on by a rousing rendition of their national folk song Shosholoza.
The Diamonds have never lost to South Africa across 50 matches, having first met at the 1963 World Cup in England.
Thursday's match was Australia's sixth Commonwealth Games victory over South Africa.
The Diamonds, gunning for back-to-back Commonwealth Games crowns for the second time in the event's history, remain favourites to win gold.
Rivals New Zealand loom as their biggest threat, with the world No.2 Silver Ferns undefeated in Pool B as they prepare to face last-placed Trinidad and Tobago.
The Diamonds are set to confront Jamaica, who are second behind New Zealand in Pool B, in their semi-final.
