Devendra Fadnavis says 'OBC data collection flawed'

MUMBAI: Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis has warned that the ongoing sample survey in various districts of Maharashtra for collecting empirical data for the Other Backward Castes (OBC) was flawed.

Addressing a press conference at the state party headquarters, Fadnavis warned it would result in a drastic fall in OBC population percentage.

“I am in receipt of data which clearly shows that the sample survey is not being done correctly. People across castes often have the same surname. There is no proper evaluation and collection of data. If the government submits this data to the court, then there is no going back,” he said.

Fadnavis said if the government does not heed his warning, he would have no option but to reveal the data and the BJP would agitate strongly.

“While state minister Chhagan Bhujbal has no role to play in the monitoring and collection of data, the chief minister must step in and enjoy the survey being carried out properly,” he said.
