The building of "100% affordable" homes is underway in one area of Merseyside.
The development of 83 "affordable dwellings" encompassing 75 houses and eight apartments are set to be built on the now disused land off Moss Lane in Southport. The plans were submitted in 2019 after Forth Homes and Adactus Housing Association jointly submitted the application after another developer dropped plans to build 59 homes on the same land.
The demolition of the remaining buildings has been captured by drone footage and shows the former battery farm being torn down with large piles of rubble across the site.

However, eight buildings still remain with work just starting on bringing them down. In their application, the developers said that the homes would make a “positive contribution to the area, creating a continuation of existing street form and massing, and providing high-quality affordable living accommodation within a well-designed public realm and landscaped environment.”
When completed 47 of the houses will have two bedrooms, 27 will have three, and six will have four. The scheme proposes 100% affordable housing split between affordable rent, rent to buy, and shared ownership, and access to the site will be provided from Brookside Road, a private road that forms the existing access point from Moss Road.
