Dermot O'Leary's surprising specialist subject on Michael McIntyre's The Wheel

TV presenter Dermot O'Leary, who is best known for hosting the X Factor, has picked a very surprising subject while on Michael McIntyre's The Wheel. It was his third time on the show and he did not pick an obvious topic to be quizzed on.

Some viewers may have expected him to pick music or TV as his specialist subject but instead he picked fishing, revealing his passion for the underwater creatures. When asked about his choice by the comedian, Dermot explained his reasoning.

He said: "I love fish, I love eating fish, I like catching fish, I like swimming with fish, surfing with fish, diving with fish, so why not!" while Michael joked: "I always feel every time you come on this show we need an explanation" and added, "You really love fish!"

Sadly after fish was picked by contestant Melfred to be his question Dermot was unable to put his knowledge to the test as the contestant shut down professional boxer Nicola Adams and unfortunately the wheel landed on her - meaning Melfred was kicked from the game.

Currently, Dermot presents the ITV morning show This Morning with Alison Hammond on Fridays. While Dermot is a familiar face on screen his famous wife Dee Koppang also boasts a hugely successful TV career. Dee has worked on Netflix's The Crown and Bridgerton and most recently was the lead director on the third season of BBC's The Split, which stars Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan.

Dee and Dermot also found themselves working together on The Split, with Dee sharing that her husband has a "tiny cameo" in the upcoming series. Luckily for Dermot, he's a huge fan. Dermot and Dee married in September 2012 after dating for 10 years and welcomed their son in June 2020.
