Dermot Bannon has confirmed to fans that Room to Improve was short this season due to the pandemic.
Many RTE viewers were left unimpressed that Sunday night's episode was a highlights discussion rather than another home ready for renovation.
And it meant the series came to and end after just five episodes, with the public crying out for more of the hugely popular show.
One fan asked the host himself: "So we can only assume Covid is to blame for this extremely short series....so can we look forward to bumper series next year?"

And Dermot replied with a simple "yep", which at least means fans can likely get excited for more series of the show.
The architect also saw the funny side of many people's tweets about being disappointed by the finale.
One viewer said: "This is the biggest anti climax since my honeymoon when I was also told there was #RoomToImprove."
Another joked: "If you have been affected by the non issues on tonight’s #RoomToImprove please contact the @rte authority."
Dermot clearly enjoyed the banter, replying with laughy faces to many of the lighthearted complaints.
Deirdre O'Shaugnessy also tweeted: "Are the #RoomToImprove people cheating us out of a real episode … a highlights show.. no thank you"
Speaking ahead of the episode, Dermot told the Irish Mirror: “It’s a look back over the last couple of years but we’ve gathered people who Room To Improve who has been a part of their lives.
“We take a look back and have a discussion on Room To Improve in a Gogglebox standard… but it’s them grilling me and asking all the questions that the audience have ever wanted to ask me, the really tough ones.
“I haven’t seen it, but I just remember squirming for most of the day in the chair.
“Majella O’Donnell had a really good go at me most of the time. I don’t think it is a look back, I think it’s more like called constructive criticism.
“It’s the really difficult questions that really everyone wanted to ask about Room To Improve and you know Majella O’Donnell, she has no filter. She didn’t (hold back).”
