In the realm of sports movies, there are plenty of tales of triumph and inspiring underdog stories. However, there are also those that go unnoticed, overshadowed by bigger releases or simply not gaining the recognition they deserve. One such film is 'The Hill,' a sports biopic starring Dennis Quaid that slipped through the cracks upon its initial release in 2023. But now, it seems that this overlooked gem has found new life and a much-deserved audience on Netflix.
'The Hill' comes from the talented mind of the writer behind beloved sports films like 'Rudy' and 'Hoosiers.' Based on the incredible true story of baseball player Rickey Hill, this inspiring biopic tells the tale of a man who defied all odds to pursue his dreams of playing professional baseball, despite a physical handicap. The film stars Dennis Quaid as Rickey's father, Pastor James Hill, alongside a talented ensemble cast that includes Colin Ford, Joelle Carter, Scott Glenn, Bonnie Bedelia, Randy Houser, and even Hall of Famer John Smoltz in a cameo appearance.
