Loose Women star Denise Welch has spoken about how she swopped her ‘addiction’ for alcohol for another one - and ended up putting on two stone. The 64-year-old took to instagram and reflected on her journey after giving up booze 10 years ago.
Posting pictures of herself in bikinis, she wanted to show what a huge difference keeping in control of her intake - both alcohol and food - has had on her life. The shots show her now and when she was two stones heavier.
She said: “10 yrs ago today I started my @lighterlife journey. I lost 2 stone in 2 months and became a proud ambassador, a title I hold to this day. I have seen @lighterlife change lives especially reversing type 2 diabetes.
“When I gave up alcohol I replaced one addiction with another, food and gained 2 stone. With the help of @lighterlife and their mentor and behavioural therapy approach, I was able to change my relationship with food.”
And she revealed aspected of her health had improved too. She said: ”The osteoarthritis in my knees improved by 90%.”
Her followers lauded her achievement. Lynda Angus said: “You look stunning well done.”

Previously Denise has spoken about her battle, saying: “I had put on over 2 stone after giving up alcohol and accepting that I had serious addiction issues. As a result I turned to food to fill the void and my crooked thinking let to a very quick weight gain that was in danger of spiralling into another addiction.
“I’ve never looked back and still do flexifasting to maintain a healthy weight. I’m not remotely bothered about being a size 10. I’m a 12/14 but my osteoarthritis is massively improved and so is my breathing which be came impaired with weight gain.”
