Denise Welch left fuming with Jet2 and demands answers over delayed flight

A furious Denise Welch has taken to Twitter to demand answers from Jet2 after her flight was delayed by more than seven hours.

Like many people at this time of year, the Geordie actress and Loose Women star had planned a little break away and planned ahead by dropping her luggage off the night before she was due to fly. However, her conscientious actions were to no avail as she discovered that her Jet2 flight to Venice, set to take off at 7.55am, had been delayed to 3.15pm.

At a time when there are reports of big queues in terminals across the country, with a number of airlines coming under fire for delayed and cancelled flights, Denise wanted an explanation from Jet2 and, including them in her post, fumed: "Please @jet2tweets tell us why our 07.55 to Venice is delayed til 15.15!!! WTF!!! Dropped bags off last night to save time!!!!!

At the time of writing, Jet2 hadn't replied to Denise, but plenty of others had. One responded: "All airlines must be the same..I picked someone up from Manchester Airport last night.Should have landed 22.40.. Ended up landing about midnight.. Imagine my car park ticket price." A second reacted: "My friend was due to fly back from venice on Sunday to Manchester. His flight was cancelled and he had to fly to Paris, then Dublin and then Manchester its a joke."

Another told the ex Waterloo Road actress: "Join the rest of the country asking," and a fourth commented: "Are you really surprised after all what is happening with flights atm. My flight got cancelled whilst we were ready to board."

Denise's angry tweet came as holidaymakers arriving at airports across the country on Wednesday faced further chaos after several flights were cancelled amid continuing staff shortages.

Experts warned the disruption will hit family holidays this summer and could continue for 18 months.
