Delhi University will prepare merit lists on the basis of “normalised” Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores for admission to undergraduate programs, a senior varsity official said on September 16.
The results for the debut edition of the CUET for the undergraduate admissions were declared by the National Testing Agency on September 16.
The NTA said the merit lists will be prepared by participating universities, which will decide on the process of counselling based on the CUET-UG scorecard.
The scorecards of candidates mention subject-wise percentile scores and normalised scores also called NTA scores.
The normalised scores were calculated from the raw scores of each candidate using the equi-percentile method for parity across sessions in which they gave their exams.
“We will prepare merit lists based on normalised scores as normalisation is necessary to provide a level playing field,” said a senior varsity official.
Delhi University began its admission process early this week.
Admission through the Common Seat Allocation System will be conducted in three phases - submission of the CSAS-2022 application form, selection of programmes, and filling of preferences, and seat allocation and admission.
It is at the second phase when the scores of CUET will be required.
The official said that the university will open a “preference-filing” Phase in the coming days.
“Candidates will log in to their CSAS 2022 dashboard to choose the Program/s s(he) is willing to take admission if allocated. The candidate will also fill in the Program and College Combinations preferences for every Program selected by them,” the official said.
“The candidate must confirm the order of preferences for the Program and College combinations by clicking on ‘Submit’ on/before the last day of the Preference-Filling phase,” the official added.
The merit list for the unreserved category seats will comprise all candidates in order of merit, the official said.
Separate merit lists will be declared for candidates seeking admission under supernumerary quotas.
Meanwhile, Jamia Millia Islamia, which is taking admission through CUET for only 10 UG courses, said that they will release a merit list based on the normalised CUET scores as soon as the NTA will provide them with score cards of students.
“As soon as NTA will provide us scorecards of students who have shown interest in taking admission in Jamia. We will prepare a merit list based on the normalised CUET score,” Registrar Nazim Jafri told PTI.
The Registrar also said that the university will begin classes for students admitted in these courses from October 6. “We will induct students adhering to our reservation policies. The admission process will likely conclude by the last week of September. And classes will begin on October 6,” Mr. Jafri added.
Jamia is conducting undergraduate admissions to 10 courses through the CUET.
These are BA (Hons) Turkish Language and Literature, B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit, B.A. (Hons) French and Francophone Studies, B.A. (Hons) Spanish and Latin American Studies, B.A. ( Hons) History, B.A. (Hons) Hindi, B.A. (Hons) Economics, B.Sc Biotechnology, B.Voc (Solar Energy), and B.Sc (Hons) Physics.
Last month, the university opened a registration portal for candidates seeking admission in these courses.
