Delhi: MCD to approach NGT to reopen Ghazipur abattoir

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to file a review petition in the National Green Tribunal on the matter related to the permission for the city’s only abattoir in Ghazipur to operate. A municipal official confirmed that all preparations had been undertaken for filing the petition.

Delhi High Court hadn’t given the civic body relief while disposing of its petition on June 3. NGT has asked for the operation permit to be withdrawn because of water norms not being met at the slaughterhouse.
