BENGALURU: Swimming coach Dev Saroha, one of the four accused arrested for gang-raping a 23-year-old nurse in the city on March 24 night, is the son of head constable Sushil Saroha, working with Delhi police.
Besides Saroha, cops arrested Rajat Suresh, Yogesh Kumar Dalal and Shivrana Tekchandrana, all in their early 20s and from Gurugram. The survivor in her complaint alleged the quartet had gang-raped her in Rajat’s house in RMV II Stage, Sanjaynagar.
Rajat is undergoing training at a swimming pool in Sadashivnagar. The others who are swimming coaches at Gurugram had come to the city to participate in a ‘coaches’ clinic’ at a private club in Chamarajpet.
According to police sources, Rajat befriended the nurse on a dating app and invited her for dinner at a restaurant on New BEL Road. When she arrived near the restaurant, Rajat told her they will have dinner at his house. Police sources said Rajat didn’t tell the girl there were three friends in his house. All the four allegedly raped her and she later filed a police complaint. By March 25 evening, the four were arrested.
Rajat has been living in Bengaluru for a couple of years now, while the rest arrived here in February.
