A decision on the future of Ralston Community Sports Centre has been delayed after councillors asked for more information on Kelburne Hockey Club's takeover bid.
The club has appealed against an initial refusal of its community asset transfer (CAT) application for the facility, but elected members will not make a ruling on the matter for another six weeks.
The reason for that continuation is to allow time for further detail and evidence on various aspects of the request, ranging from issues such as funding and community engagement to footfall generated and the impact that would have in the local area.
A six-week period intends to allow sufficient time for information to be submitted, circulated among interested parties, responses gathered and then considered.
Councillor Michelle Campbell, convener of the CAT review sub-committee, said: "What we will do is we will get diaries for the members of the board and find a date in time that works around that six-week mark to reconvene to consider the information that comes.
"We will continue this review at the moment for this appeal until we have that information for consideration for members to then make a decision on this appeal."
Renfrewshire Council must come to a decision on the appeal within six months of when it was first received, which was on September 29. That means the deadline for the ruling is March 28.
Following Friday's meeting of the sub-committee, Billy Anderson, secretary of Kelburne Hockey Club, said: "On the questions that were raised, we're happy to provide additional documents or reclarify existing documents to make the councillors feel comfortable that we've covered all the bases.
"It's unfortunate that it's another six weeks but this is a massive project for everybody, so it's important that we do get it right together.
"We will comply with whatever questions we are asked or that come to us and then we'll make that clarification back to the council."
