The wearable market has moved well beyond being a niche corner of consumer electronics. Connected devices are being increasingly used to track sleep, heart rate, stress, recovery, activity, metabolic health, and women's health, turning wearables into a serious consumer technology business.
According to IDC, global wearable shipments reached 145.7 million units in Q1 2026, representing a 4.3% year-over-year (YoY) increase. Smart rings still account for only a small portion of that market, but the category is expanding. IDC expects 4.9 million smart rings to ship globally in 2026, up 12.8% YoY, with shipments projected to reach approximately 6.3 million units by 2030.
