Arizona Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins is being linked with NFL franchises all over the place - and the wide receiver has admitted he is reading all the trade rumour headlines.
Hopkins has been connected with trades to the New England Patriots, New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs with the trio offering the 46th, 57th and 63rd picks at the Draft in response. The rumours have been going on for months and they swirled at their strongest last season when Hopkins was seen chatting to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick for some time on the sidelines.
It was also revealed recently that the no-trade clause in his contract was voided to hand the Patriots a further boost in their pursuit.
Hopkins has recorded at least 1,165 yards in each of the last six seasons and would add a game-changing nature to whichever franchise he would end up joining.
But from Hopkins' point of view, things will happen at their own pace and he can mostly ignore what is being said and prepare for another year at the Cardinals.
"Obviously, you know, I've been hearing a lot of trade talks," Hopkins told A.J. Hawk and Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show. "I take things day for day, man. I don't look forward to the future. I live in the present moment.
"Right now, the Arizona Cardinals is the team and the roster that I'm on and I'm preparing myself for whatever the future holds. I don't really look forward to the future. I let you guys do that talk."
Despite being coy about what his future may hold, Hopkins revealed he does read all the speculation around him after getting caught out by former team the Houston Texans when they traded him in 2019.
"I would love to give you as much information but right now we have been keeping our heads down," Hopkins added on the Pat McAfee Show.
"You have got to pay attention to the headline because when you hear some of those trade rumours you would hate to think that all those things were lies.
"I have been traded before. There was speculation about it but I shoot it off as 'nah the Texans would never trade me' but next thing I knew I was getting traded to the Cardinals so we are keeping close attention to the tabloids. But we don't put anything out ourselves."
