Deadly Train-Bus Collision In Slovakia Leaves Seven Dead

Bus accident leaves passengers injured and dead, on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa

Tragedy struck in southwestern Slovakia on Thursday afternoon when a collision between an international train and a bus resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and left at least five others injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation as emergency services continue their efforts at the crash site in Nové Zámky, southern Slovakia.

The Slovak national railway company, ZSSK, confirmed that none of the over 100 passengers on the EuroCity train were among the fatalities. The company expressed its condolences to the families and loved ones of the bus passengers affected by the accident.

Footage from the scene showed smoke and fire emanating from a train carriage, with witnesses recounting the chaos that ensued following the collision. The train was en route from Prague, Czech Republic, to Budapest, Hungary, when the incident occurred.

This tragic event marks the second deadly collision involving an international train in the region within a span of three weeks. The previous incident on June 6 in the Czech Republic claimed four lives and left over 20 individuals injured.

Emergency response teams, including ambulance vehicles and helicopters, have been deployed to the crash site to assist those affected. Slovak politicians and officials have expressed their shock and offered condolences to the families of the victims.

As investigations into the cause of the collision continue, authorities are working diligently to provide support to those impacted by this devastating accident.
