An investigation is currently underway following a devastating explosion that occurred at a residence in Sterling, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. The incident transpired last night while emergency responders were addressing a gas leak emanating from a 500-gallon underground propane tank situated beside the house. Tragically, one firefighter, aged 45, lost his life in the explosion. Additionally, a total of 13 individuals were wounded, including 11 first responders.
Loudoun County fire officials conjectured during a recent press conference that the explosion was likely linked to propane. However, an official cause has not yet been definitively ascertained. The blast was so forceful that it resulted in the loss of life and multiple injuries.
