NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals received a significant boost as they welcomed back their skipper, Rishabh Pant, for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Pant's return marked a triumphant comeback to competitive cricket after a challenging period of injury and recovery, following a harrowing car accident in December 2022.
The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, Pant, missed the previous edition of the IPL due to injury, making his absence keenly felt by the Delhi Capitals. However, his return injected a sense of optimism and strength into the team as they embarked on their IPL 2024 campaign.
Despite Pant's return, Delhi Capitals faced disappointment in their season opener against hosts Punjab Kings on March 23. The encounter ended in a defeat for the Capitals, as they were beaten by four wickets in Chandigarh.
In the initial phase of the tournament, Delhi Capitals are set to play five league matches, with three scheduled away fixtures and two at their secondary home venue in Visakhapatnam.
With the setback in their opening match, the Capitals will be eager for a resurgence in the upcoming games, aiming to bounce back from their initial setback and make their mark in the tournament.
