Dawn Staley Makes Thoughts on Coaching a Men’s Team Extremely Clear

South Carolina women’s basketball enters the Final Four as the heavy favorite to take home another national championship, which would be coach Dawn Staley’s second consecutive title with the Gamecocks and third overall with the school.

Staley’s swift rise and her ability to develop South Carolina’s program into one of the nation’s best had some college basketball analysts wondering if she could make a similar splash in the men’s game.

When meeting with the media at the Final Four in Dallas this week, Staley shut down all rumors of her making a jump to coach men’s college basketball.

“I don’t want to coach in the men’s game,” Staley said, shutting down the rumor specifically tying her to Temple’s opening, which has since been filled by Adam Fisher.

With Staley firmly at the helm, the Gamecocks will play Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the Final Four on Friday night. The winner of that game will go on to play the winner of Virginia Tech-LSU in the national championship game on Sunday.
