Comedy icon Dawn French was beaming on Tuesday evening (February 28) as she stepped out on the red carpet. Showing off her slinky new figure and a return to her trademark bob haircut, the Vicar of Dibley actress and comedian wowed onlookers.
Turning out for the opening night of Oklahoma! at the Wyndham's Theatre in London's West End, the French and Saunders star looked absolutely fabulous. Wearing an on-trend all black outfit teamed with flats, the 65 year old showed off her slimmer figure and debuted the return of her signature bob, but with a twist. Her jet black locks have been transformed by a stylish 'grown out' colour 'do'.
Before the new silver style, Dawn rocked a series of new haircut styles from longer locks to a swept back pixie cut. However, she was reported by Good Housekeeping last year as being "curious" to see what her iconic bob would look like grey.

Dawn has been 'embracing the grey' for a number of months and admits her stunning natural silver hair is a result of a "couldn't be bothered" attitude to the upkeep of her trademark dark brown colouring. Appearing on The One Show in December last year, she said: "I just couldn’t be bothered to keep doing it. So I let my natural grey come through."
The cavalier attitude to her hair has, in the past, got her in hot water with her hairdresser. According to a report in the Mirror, during her journey back to the iconic bob, she resorted to some 'home-hairdressing'. She said: "I also cut some of it myself – to my hairdresser’s alarm! It’s much shorter than I’m used to now and I do have certain ‘Grrr’ moments when I don’t know how to style it – I would literally give my old hair 13 minutes of my time each day."
On the topic of weight loss, Dawn has previously been open about her regime. After losing an impressive seven stone back in 2011, she said: "I just did less eating and more exercising. But I've never disliked myself at all. My weight has had nothing to do with my self-esteem. And I still refuse to dislike my old self".
However, in 2014 Dawn French shared the real reason behind her dramatic weight loss. Putting rumours she had a gastric band to bed, she revealed she had a hysterectomy after a cancer scare. She later admitted she put some of the weight back on 'through her love of bread and pasta'.
