Arsenal legend David Seaman is confident his old side will beat Tottenham in Thursday’s north London derby and also claimed they can overtake Chelsea and finish third. The Gunners are just a point behind Thomas Tuchel’s side after winning their last four games in a row amid a period of inconsistency for the Blues.
A victory for Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will seal a top four finish and secure Champions League qualification for the first time since the 2015/16 season. However, anything less than a win would leave the door open for Spurs to potentially overtake them with just two games remaining.
Mikel Arteta’s side were bottom of the Premier League after their opening three games and the turnaround in their fortunes shows how far they have come under the Spaniard’s management. Seaman is adamant that regardless of where they finish this season it’s been a campaign of immense improvement, and has also warned London rivals Chelsea that they could finish above them if they continue to drop points.

"It's been a great season. Especially when you look at the start of it," Seaman told Sky Sports News. "We were bottom, Spurs were top for the first few weeks and that was really hard to take.
“But now when you look at it, we not only could be top four, we could actually catch Chelsea up depending on how results go. In the last two seasons we've finished eighth. So this season has been a massive improvement.
"When you look at it, we could finish top of the rest. We've got City and Liverpool at the top by a long way but we could finish third. It could turn out to be a fantastic season."
After Thursday's trip across north London Arteta’s side travel to Newcastle before hosting Everton on the final day of the season. The Gunners haven’t won away at Tottenham since 2014, but Seaman is confident that they can end that particular run and seal a top four finish in style.
He added: "I'm pretty confident if I'm honest. I watched the game against Leeds, I was at that game.
"I am confident because Arsenal have this knack of not playing well but still getting results. But when they do play well they can almost guarantee a win.
"But it's going to be tough, there's no doubt about it. Tottenham have got some great players but Arsenal are having a great run. So I'm really looking forward to the game."
