David Moyes urges Declan Rice to deliver ‘big moment’ for West Ham before expected summer exit

David Moyes has challenged Declan Rice to seize his “big moment” as he bids to end his West Ham career with Europa Conference League glory in Prague next month.

Rice played what is likely to prove his penultimate game for the club in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The midfielder will be sold this summer, with West Ham hoping to command a fee of around £100million and Arsenal leading the chase for his signature.

Before then, however, he has the chance to sign off in style, with the Hammers travelling to Prague next month to face Fiorentina in their first major European final in 47 years.

“I thought he played great,” Moyes said. “He put in another swashbuckling type of performance at times. He did an awful lot of good things. I’m really pleased with how he has played for us over the season, he has been exceptional, the way he has conducted himself, all those things have been excellent.

“He is a very good player and now he has the big moment, the big moment to see if he can lift a trophy for West Ham. That’s what he needs to try and get ready to see how that looks.”
