David Moyes has confirmed Harrison Ashby wanted to join Newcastle United in the summer as the player officially joins the Magpies. The right-back, 21, has been unveiled Tyneside despite West Ham's prolonged attempts to keep him in east London on an improved deal.
Ashby was heavily linked with a move to the Magpies before the season kicked off but West Ham managed to persuade him to stay put in the capital. This time around they haven't been successful as Moyes confirms why the youngster has chosen to finally join Howe's side.
“It was the boy’s decision,” Moyes told reporters after West Ham’s FA Cup win over Derby on Monday night. “The boy didn’t want to stay and he only had six months left on his contract.
