Dirty dog Dave Grohl blew our minds when he admitted to cheating on his wife by announcing the birth of his new daughter, but the rockstar *may* have a pattern of this behaviour. Not the secret baby thing, but the cheating.
His ex Tina Basich — who he dated for two years in the ‘90s — claimed her relationship with the Foo Fighters frontman broke down when he cheated on her.
Basich, known as the bad-ass snowboarding pioneer who helped kickstart the sport, shared her side of the story in her 2003 memoir Pretty Good for a Girl: The Autobiography of a Snowboarding Pioneer.
She alleged the singer was romantically involved with another woman while he was committed to her, saying she was “disappointed and pissed” when she realised.
“I don’t know how anyone in his profession can have a normal relationship with a girlfriend… or two, as it turned out. I found out secondhand, through the grapevine, when it seemed like everyone else in the world knew about it but me,” she wrote.
“Breakups suck. But rockstar exits are the worst.”
Basich told readers she only received a “five-minute phone call” from Grohl about the situation, even after she had spent five weeks calling him to try and get the truth.
“I just had to know if these rumours were true and had to hear it straight from the source,” she said.
Looking back on their time together, she noted that the “pressure” placed on Grohl and their relationship was “too much to handle”.
Grohl was juggling “multimillion-dollar record contracts, deadlines with record labels, music videos [and] press tours”, along with writing music and “being creative”.
“You can only give up so much of your heart and your career and your time and your spirit, and here I was, giving it all up for a guy and losing myself in the process,” Basich added.
In the end, Basich claims she got “nothing” from the musician, saying he “dropped off the planet” when it came to her, but she couldn’t escape his superstar status. Can you imagine breaking up with a guy, and then having to see his face slapped on magazines and hearing his music playing in elevators? Literal hell.
This isn’t the first time there’s been rumours of Grohl being a not-so-stand-up guy either, with gossip account Deuxmoi claiming he was a “pumpkin eater” in a podcast episode from September 2023.
She uses this slang when she’s referring to cheaters, so the signs have been there for a while!
Wonder if any other women will start coming forward about their trysts with Grohl? Surely this isn’t the last we’ll hear about it.
