Darwin Nunez to Liverpool sets Calvin Ramsay transfer in motion as Aberdeen defender takes centre stage

Liverpool are edging closer to completing a blockbuster deal for Darwin Nunez - with focus quickly shifting to Calvin Ramsay.

The 22-year-old is on the brink of completing a deal worth a whopping £64m with about £21m in add-ons to take him from Benfica to Anfield.

The attention of the Champions League finalists has firmly been on the Nunez deal, which looks to have held up the final agreement.

But the Aberdeen prospect is next on the Premier League giants' agenda.

The 18-year-old is on the brink of a dream move to work under Jurgen Klopp, and reports suggest the Scotland youth cap will be thrown straight into the first-team picture.

A back-up right-back has been high on the German's wish list and Ramsay looks set to become the understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold next term.

That is, if the final transfer fee can be rubber stamped.

The players appears keen to go with Liverpool set to reach an agreement with Ramsay.

However, Aberdeen have taken a hardline stance on their valuation as they demand a bumper fee to green light the move south.

After an initial proposal of £4million with a potential £2million more in add-ons, the Premiership side are standing firm on a price tag of £8million including add-ons, reports the Press & Journal.

Dons' chairman Dave Cormack has previously stated he has no intention of letting players go on the cheap: "We will not bend over backwards and be taken for granted as far as selling players are concerned.

“That’s like a red rag to a bull to me. People not wanting to pay full and fair value for the players."

There is little doubt that Nathan Patterson 's £12million move to Merseyside rivals Everton from Rangers will come up, with Ramsay playing significantly more games last term.

So now the deal for Nunez is about to cross the line, the Anfield negotiators will have to bring their A-game as they turn their attention to bringing Ramsay to Liverpool.
