Darren Waller dubbed Giants’ offensive X-factor

The New York Giants desperately needed to add depth to its receiving corps this offseason, and that’s been a big focus for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll. As part of that focus, they brought in tight end Darren Waller, a move that seemed iffy given Waller’s history.

Still, Waller has loads of potential and can play a huge part in the Giants offense, if he can stay healthy. That potential led CBS Sports to name Waller the Giants’ offensive X-factor.

Waller was the biggest swing among the group as he’s only two years removed from having gone 90-1145-3 and 107-1196-9 in back-to-back seasons. He’s only played 20 of 34 games over the past two years, though, and combined for 83 receptions for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns during that time.

Waller will be a huge asset to Daniel Jones when he’s on the field. Not only does it give him another target, but he’s a veteran who can work with Daniel Bellinger to improve on last season’s performance.

The Giants offense looks much more solid than it was last season, and if they can stay healthy, this team is going to surprise a lot of people.
