Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy could have been handed a major chance to appoint an established Premier League manager after this weekend's events. Relegation-threatened Leicester suffered late heartbreak against Crystal Palace on Saturday which pushed them further into the battle to stay up, and now the Foxes have acted with Brendan Rodgers parting company with the club after a four-year spell.
Rodgers had overseen just two Premier League victories in 2023, with no wins since February 11, and his departure came after A sixth defeat from seven matches. He leaves Leicester in nineteenth, a point from safety, with the club now facing a decisive ten games to keep their status in England's top flight.
Despite a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, Rodgers has enjoyed a mostly successful stint at the club. In 2021, he secured an FA Cup triumph and followed that up by winning the Community Shield the following campaign. Sucessful periods at King Power Stadium previously made Rodgers a wanted man, with Tottenham eyeing him up after the exit of Jose Mourinho

"I’m very, very happy here. I have a huge respect here for the players, the board and I really feel that I want to continue my work here," he said in 2021, via the Daily Mail. "I’ve got a set of players that give me their heart and soul every single day and also I can see a future here in terms of the development of the squad.
"Tottenham is a great club, one of the biggest clubs in Britain but for me I’m just in a really, really happy place in my life."
Two years later however, Rodgers has seen his time at the club come to an end, but the former Liverpool boss could have his next job lined up. Spurs are in search of a new manager after parting company with Antonio Conte in March, and former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given believes Rodgers should be a candidate for the vacancy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"I feel for Brendan, but I feel that he is a top manager, he’ll be linked with more big jobs," Given said on Sky Sports. "You’re looking at Tottenham needing a manager, he was linked with the Tottenham job a couple of years ago, could they go back to Brendan for that perhaps?
"Last week Patrick Vieira lost his job, this week Brendan, so the stakes are getting higher and higher as the weeks go by and this relegation battle is going to go right down to the wire."
Cristian Stellini, Conte's assistant, was handed the reigns in north London alongside Ryan Mason until the end of the season, but Rodgers could certainly be the eventual permanent successor. Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann have both been linked with the job, but uncertainty surrounding the managerial futures of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid and Graham Potter at Chelsea could see those two names snapped up soon.
