Laura Nolan has explained that more bridsemaids and groomsmen are taking to the dancefloor as part of the wedding day entertainment.
Laura has been a professional dancer on RTE's Dancing with the Stars since the sequined show began in 2017. She has taught dancing since she was a teenager and was inspired to take on wedding dance classes after setting up a stall at a fair in the RDS.
She explained that viral trends have made people more conscious of getting their footwork in order ahead of the big day. Besides the traditional first dance, bridesmaids and groomsmen are now often taking to the floor as part of the day's festivities.

Laura was partnered up with Love Island's Matthew MacNabb in the 2022 series of the glamorous show, with the two eventually becoming an item off the dancefloor. She was later tasked with teaching choreography at Matthew's sister's wedding and quickly realised how popular the trend was becoming.
She told Dublin Live: "People are getting really creative these days. I did the choreography for Matthew's sister's wedding where all the bridesmaids and groomsmen came onto the floor and did a dance together."
She joked: "It was right off the back of Dancing with the Stars too. Matthew thought it was deadly and he helped me out with teaching it."
Laura also teaches sessions on the traditional first wedding dance. She alternates between studios in Lucan and the Long Mile Road, depending on where couples are situated.
The world of wedding dancing is a far cry from Dancing with the Stars. Laura explained that while choreography on the show tends to focus on the 'wow' factor, she ensures that a couple's first dance is a much more personal experience.
She said: "You have to talk to the couple and ask them what they’re looking for in terms of energy and vibe, what songs are personal to them and what their personal story is. Everyone wants a different style- whether it's funny, serious or choreographed to a Spice Girls song."
Wedding season is approaching and Laura is witnessing high demand amongst couples looking to perfect their dancing. She said that men in particular tend to be nervous before the sessions but she always encourages students to see dancing as a natural progression from walking.
She added: "Fears include stepping over each other and falling over the bride’s dress. Men will tell you they have two left feet and end up being surprisingly good at the choreography."
Laura will soon start uploading tips for couple's on how to get ready for their wedding dance through social media. Couples who are interested in taking classes with her can get in touch via her Instagram page.
