Dancing On Ice's Regan 'battered and bruised' after landing on back in nasty accident

Dancing On Ice contestant Regan Gascoigne has revealed that he suffered a nasty accident that saw him fly backwards onto his back this week.

The 26-year-old dancer, who is also the son of Paul Gascoigne, is currently favourite to win the ITV skating show.

But speaking to Lorraine Kelly today with partner Karina Manta, he revealed that he had been finding the upcoming prop week routine a little tricky.

He said: "One tiny little movement can throw you. It sounds so stupid because it is so slippery but it is so slippery to a point where you're like, you have no control but you genuinely don't.

"Even when you think you know what you're doing and you have the routine in your head... like the other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily - it just happens."

Lorraine pointed out: "You have to be absolutely focused all of the time. How is the little body? Is it bruised?

Regan admitted: "A little battered and bruised! Both of my knees have always got knee supports on, they're a bit swollen, popped my shoulder out."

"But you've just got to pick yourself up and go," Lorraine replied.

Karina added: "He keeps going - he doesn't want to stop for anything."

He also addressed the suggestion that he had an unfair advantage due to the fact that he was a dancer.

While he said that he does have "a bit of an advantage", he also said that he needs to "unlearn things" such as spotting, which is done differently off the ice.

Karina agreed, saying: "It's a totally different skill."

*Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
