Dancing On Ice's Bez is a 'self-confessed honey monster' and charges fans £85 to chat about bees

Fans might not know, but Dancing On Ice star Bez is actually a keen beekeeper in his free time.

Not only this, but he is currently gearing up to charge fans £85 if they want to chat to him about his life, times and bee-keeping passion.

The 57-year-old Happy Mondays star and Dancing On Ice hopeful is getting ready to talk about his pastime at an event in Manchester, where the star will be chatting to fans.

An advert on Bez's website reportedly said: "Want to meet the legendary Happy Mondays star Bez?

"Percussionist, dancer, bee-protector, ice-skater, MasterChef semi-finalist, Goggleboxer... enjoy a three-course meal as he talks about his career craziness.

"What's not to love about this northern icon?"

Daily Star reported that ticket sales apparently cost around £85 and were thought to have soared after Bez starred on the first episode of Dancing On Ice just the other week.

A little known fact, but Bez has been a keen beekeeper for more than eight years.

Over the years, the much-loved percussionist has even been encouraging people to set up colonies of their own to stop the decline in the honey bee population.

The Happy Mondays star's passion and pastime comes from his grandad’s love of bees when he was growing up – something which fuelled Bez's own love.

Manchester's Finest reported last year that Bez has said that his grandad would come round with huge pots of honey when he was younger, before taking up the pastime for himself when he was offered his first hive for just £50.

On his YouTube channel, which was launched in 2021, Bez talks about all things bees – chatting about Shamanic bee rituals where you end up “hallucinating your bollocks off for a fortnight”, as well as when he was attacked by a "gang of bees" when he left his trousers undone.

Bez is currently starring on Dancing On Ice (ITV)

In 2013, Bez gave his support to a campaign to save the honey bee within UK cities, and helped install two bee hives on the Printworks in Manchester.

The BBC reported in 2013 that Bez was a "self-confessed full-time honey monster" and had been keeping bees since 2012 on a commune in South Wales.

At the time of the campaign he backed, Bez said: "It has been a big part of our family life since my granddad came back home from the war with four tins of honey.

"It's magical really because the bees have been around since the days of the dinosaurs. They are a great part of our diversity."
