Dancing On Ice fans complain minutes into final as they slam unfair rule

Dancing On Ice fans were quick to complain minutes into the final as they slammed a 'unfair' rule.

The remaining skaters - Nile Wilson, Joey Essex and The Vivienne - have just a few more skates standing between their chance of lifting the 2023 trophy. The final, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, kicked off this evening, but it wasn't long before fans rushed to social media to complain just moments into the show.

Venting their frustrations on Twitter, fans of the programme rushed to complain as the show's hosts revealed how the night would pan out, and opened the voting for the public at home.

"The skating is pointless if you can vote already. Its just a popularity contest #DancingOnIce," one wrote, as a second added: "How can people be asked to vote (at a cost) when nobody has skated yet? #DancingOnIce."

A third shared: " @dancingonice #DancingOnIce what is the point of anyone skating if we can vote before they skate? Just goes to show it’s a popularity contest not a skating contest," with a fourth writing: "Why is the #DancingOnIce vote open before the contestants have even started? Are they not even pretending they want a fair competition rather than a popularity contest?"

It comes after Nile revealed he will do something he's never done in the final, as he shared: "We're so excited, we can't wait, we're very grateful to have got to this position. It's a big change this week from what it's been because we're having to learn a lot more and skate a lot more. We've been on the ice for five hours a day for the last two days.

"It's been a shock to the system to try to learn three routines instead of one. But we're gonna get there we always do and we're really buzzing to show you what we've got on Sunday. We've choreographed these routines and it's going to bring the competition and also bring things that have never been seen on the show before for sure."

The Vivienne said it would be incredible if they win as it would be a "great beacon of representation".

Asked what it would be like to win, she said: "It'd be fantastic, just to be the first of anything, being the first UK winner of season one of Drag Race and then to be able to be the first drag performer to win Dancing on Ice would be amazing."

Joey admitted he struggled in the semi-final when his emotions got the better of him.

"But I believed in myself that when it was time to perform when it was going live, I knew I'd be able to snap out of it and perform it in the best way possible. My emotions never got to me throughout this whole journey, it was a very difficult semi-final," he said.
