POLICE are reportedly investigating sex crime claims made against GB News presenter Dan Wootton.
The newsreader is said to be the subject of a Metropolitan Police inquiry after the Byline Times reported allegations he had persuaded men to make sexual content which was then, in at least one case, allegedly used for blackmail.
A spokesperson for the force told the website: “In June 2023, the Metropolitan Police was contacted with regards to allegations of sexual offences committed by a man aged in his 40s.
“Officers assessed all information available to establish whether any criminal offence has taken place. We can confirm that an investigation has now commenced into these allegations.
“Detectives will continue to liaise with the complainant to establish the circumstances. There has been no arrest and enquiries continue.”
Byline Times said it had handed over a 28-page dossier of evidence to the Met Police on June 20.
Wootton admitted to "errors in judgment" but denied any criminality when the claims against him were first made public.
It comes after Wootton was suspended from GB News after Laurence Fox made what were widely considered to be misogynistic comments about female journalist Ava Evans.
MailOnline also terminated its contract with the presenter in the wake of the scandal.
