An artist has transformed his home with bright yellow, green, and orange paint after letting his daughter pick out the colours.
Sam Hewitt, 50, grew fed up with the "dull" appearance of houses in his area after living in the residential street for over a decade.
Keen to 'mix things up,' he decided to paint his home, but he let his daughter choose the design, as the Sun reports. And it is more than fair to say the then eight-year-old made a bold choice.
Her pick: a green base with yellow headers, plus an orange front door for good measure.
The duo love the result, as do much of their community in Brighton, East Sussex. But not everyone is a fan of the home on Millers Road.
As Sam himself recognises, the house certainly stands out. One neighbour went so far as to call the artwork 'dreadful'. Thankfully, lots of residents love the vibrant design.
"Kids particularly love it. I watch them go past grinning and laughing," said Sam. "But people do scoff at it and say 'that's ridiculous' and ask 'what are they thinking?'."
Explaining his design inspiration he revealed: "I got really bored with how dull all the white houses looked on the street after a while."
The artist added he's not been told to get rid of the design by the council since first painting the home back in 2018. What's more, it sounds like many residents would be sad to see the paintwork go, as it has become 'part of the road'.
Sam still stands by the design, and he thinks the cleverly-picked colour palette is part of the appeal, as it doesn't call to mind a specific brand or place.
"The three colours we chose really set each other off. It's very powerful," he said. It's also very cost-effective.
A professional oil painter, Sam painted the home himself for £50 - and it only needs touching up once every five years. So, it looks like the artist's work is here to stay, adding more colour to what is already one of the country's most colourful cities.
