Dad celebrating birth of son shot by neighbour with bow and arrow in row over noise

A new dad was celebrating the birth of his baby only to have celebrations horrifically interrupted by his angry neighbour who fired off an arrow at the group who were being too loud for his liking.

Evarista Scalco, 63, is said to have grabbed one of the three bows he kept in his flat in Genoa in Italy’s northwest and allegedly shot an arrow at the celebratory group who had ignored his requests to quieten down.

The steel-tipped flight, usually used to kill wild boars, hit Alfredo Javier Romero Miranda, a 40-year-old Peruvian immigrant, in the torso.

He had been out drinking with friends on Tuesday night to celebrate the birth of a baby boy and watch the Champions League game between Liverpool and Napoli.

Horrifying footage shows Javier clutching his stomach with the arrow clearly sticking out from him as he staggers around in a pool of blood.

The video shows the bow-wielding man standing topless in his window as his friends tried unsuccessfully to extract the arrow

The construction worker was rushed to hospital but died on the operating table after hours of agony from a pierced liver.

Born in Peru, he had lived in Italy for around 20 years and witnesses say Mr Scalco had hurled racist insults at him.

Javier can be seen in tears and talking on his phone, holding the arrow saying: "Son of a b****. What the f*** have you done to me? My God."

A neighbour then comes out and asks: "What’s happened?" and Javier answers: "He’s shot me with an arrow."

Mr Scalco claims he was not trying to specifically target the man and was seen running down to the street to the victim's aid.

He tried to stem the flow of blood as police keep a crowd away.

The 41-year-old had been arguing with Evaristo Scalco (CEN)

He told the police: "I looked out and saw a group of people urinating, I shouted at them but they ignored me, I grabbed the bow and fired but I didn’t mean to kill anyone."

Javier had posted a photo of the scan of his unborn baby in July and wrote: "Very soon you will be with us we wait with great eagerness my little Gustavo Giuseppe. You will be our blessing, the joy of mummy and daddy."

Mr Scalco, an artisan who works in the boat-building sector, was charged with murder and remanded in custody.

Officers who raided his house said around 60 arrows and three bows had been seized.
