A dad was placed into a coma in intensive care for a month after being diagnosed with a severe disease after a family holiday in Spain.
David Marshall was diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease following his return from a family holiday in Benidorm. Mr Marshall, 79, developed symptoms including kidney pains and diarrhoea, vomiting, confusion, a productive cough and shortness of breath in the second week of a two-week stay at a hotel in Benidorm.
The dad-of-five was holidaying with his wife, Dorothy, and his son and daughter-in-law. After arriving back in the UK and with his condition deteriorating the retired union official was rushed to Royal Blackburn Hospital in an ambulance.
