A Dachshund's spine carries more disc material than almost any other dog its size, spread across a back that is long relative to its legs and body height. That proportion is not an accident of breeding, it was the point. A low, elongated dog could follow a badger underground. What worked in a burrow creates a specific mechanical problem in a Gurgaon flat with a sofa, a bed, and a flight of stairs.
