DA hike after Dussehra? Will government announce dearness allowance increase after October 20?

Central government employees were hoping the Centre would announce a dearness allowance (DA) hike after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (October 14, 2026). Though the Cabinet announced a performance-linked bonus (PLB), or annual bonus, for all Railway employees, it didn’t make any announcement regarding the much-awaited DA hike.

This means central government employees waiting for the DA hike of July 2026 will have to wait a little longer. However, the big question now is whether the Centre would announce the DA hike in the next Cabinet meeting on October 21, a day after Dussehra.
