- Singer d4vd’s mugshot has been released after he was arrested and charged in the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas-Hernandez.
- Rivas-Hernandez was reported missing in 2024 at the age of 13 and was 14 at the time of her death, police said. Her dismembered remains were discovered in the trunk of 21-year-old d4vd's abandoned Tesla in September, sparking a murder investigation.
- The singer, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was formally charged Monday with first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with an individual under 14 and mutilating a body.
- District Attorney Nathan Hochman alleged that d4vd murdered Rivas-Hernandez to protect his musical career “that Celeste was threatening on that particular night.” He said evidence will show Celeste was a witness in an investigation into sexual acts allegedly committed by d4vd.
- Hochman noted that special circumstances in the murder charge, such as lying in wait and murdering a witness, could lead to the death penalty.
