KOLKATA: India’s new No. 1 player D Gukesh slipped as Maxime Vachier-Lagrave grabbed the sole lead at the end of Day II of the Tata Steel Chess India rapid tournament at the Bhasha Bhawan in the National Library of India campus on Wednesday.
Gukesh, who was one of the three leaders on the opening day, went winless on Wednesday to end with three points after six rounds. Maxime became the sole leader with 4.5 points due to some dramatic results in the last round of the day.
