A cyclist has died following a crash on a road in North Ayrshire. The incident occurred shortly after 6.30am today when cops receive reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a white Mercedes van.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene on the A760 near to Muirhead Reservoir between Kilbirnie and Largs.
Sadly, the 31-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead upon arrival. The 37-year-old male driver of the van was not injured.
The road remains closed while crash scene investigators carry out an investigation into the event. Police are asking members of the public to get in touch if they seen what happened, stopped to help or have dash-cam footage.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans, from Ayrshire Road Policing Department said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this very difficult time.
"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or assisted at the scene after to contact officers.
"We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage from around the time of the crash.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0494 of Wednesday, 10 August, 2022."
