Thai red curry, chicken and baby food are among a number of items that have been pulled from supermarket shelves across the country over the past week due to food safety concerns.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued several recalls for specific batches of products sold in Irish stores.
Consumers have been urged to check their fridges, freezers and cupboards for the affected items and follow the issued advice on what to do next.
Retailers who stock the impacted products will have point of sale notices available in their stores and provide shoppers with refunds for returning any affected batches.
Below are all of the current recall notices in effect:
Avoca Thai Red Lentil and Vegetable Curry
Avoca is recalling the above batch of its Thai Red Lentil & Vegetable Curry as it was mispacked with Thai Red Chicken & Vegetable Curry (use by date: 15/08/2022).
The use by date stated on the label is 19/08/2022, which is incorrect.
Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch.
Dunnes Stores Oyster Cut Irish Chicken Thighs
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued an urgent recall notice for a batch of popular Dunnes Stores chicken.
Dunnes Stores is recalling a batch of its Oyster Cut Irish Chicken Thighs as it was mispacked with raw Chicken Breast on the Bone.
Therefore, the cooking instructions provided on the label are incorrect.
Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch.
The implicated batch has a use by date of August 18, 2022.
Ella’s Kitchen Banana and Vanilla Bread Pudding
Ella’s Kitchen is recalling specific batches of Ella’s Kitchen Banana and Vanilla Bread Pudding due to Possible Microbiological Contamination as the product may contain microbiological contamination and could be unsafe to eat.
A distribution list will be emailed to PEHOs in due course.
While retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores where the affected batches were sold.
Consumers are advised not to feed the implicated batches to infants.
The implicated batches include:
L192 and L193; best before date: 04/23
Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream
The implicated batches of Häagen-Dazs ice cream listed in the table below are being recalled due to the detection of 2-chloroethanol in one of the ingredients used in their manufacture.
2-Chloroethanol is a recognised reaction product of ethylene oxide. Ethylene oxide is a pesticide that is not permitted for use in foods sold in the EU but is approved for use by other countries outside the EU.
Although the consumption of the contaminated batches does not pose an acute risk to health, there is an increased risk if there is continued consumption of contaminated food over a long period of time. Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimised.
Deluxe Protein Bar Vanilla Almond Flavour
The implicated batch of Herbalife Protein Bar Vanilla Almond flavour was mispacked with Herbalife Protein Bar Citrus Lemon flavour.
The Herbalife Protein Bar Citrus Lemon product contains eggs which are not declared on the ingredients list.
This may make the affected batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of eggs.
